Across the meta-analysis, 1248 of 2513 MRI-imaged participants had dementia-related MRI abnormalities. The pooled prevalence of dementia-related MRI findings was 58%, with a 95% confidence interval from 43% to 72%. The prevalence estimate had a very wide prediction interval and considerable heterogeneity, so it should be interpreted descriptively rather than as a precise population prevalence. No single study unduly influenced the pooled abnormality prevalence in leave-one-out analyses.
