The intraclass correlation coefficient of approximately 33.1% indicated that nearly one-third of variation in ENC practice was attributable to differences between enumeration areas, justifying multilevel modelling. The survey used a multistage stratified cluster sampling design in which 280 enumeration areas were selected from a national master sampling frame using probability proportional to size. A multilevel mixed-effects logistic regression model was used because mothers were nested within enumeration areas, producing clustered data.
