Different measurement modalities have complementary tradeoffs in detail, speed, and spatial precision. Multimodal biosensing is promising but technically difficult because interpreting many signals and acting within milliseconds remains unresolved. Multimodal biosensing measures many physiological signals at once to infer user state more richly than a single sensor could.
