The study classified mild, moderate, and high myopia using dioptre ranges. The study defined myopia as spherical equivalent of -0.5 dioptres or less in both eyes by subjective refraction. Increasing myopia severity was not simply associated with adherence in this study. Myopia increases the risk of several ocular complications even at low-to-moderate severity. Highly myopic adolescents with amblyopia received corrective lenses and referral notes for non-refractive causes of visual impairment.
