A Hungarian study reported 78.8% of psoriasis patients treated with a synthetic bile acid became asymptomatic, though the article notes these results appear unusually high for clinical practice. Scutellaria baicalensis lowers Th17 cells, IL-17, IL-6, and IL-23 while simultaneously increasing T-regulatory cells. Topical indigo naturalis decreases keratinocyte IL-1, IL-6, IL-23, and IL-22 expression in psoriatic lesions and suppresses the JAK-STAT pathway. Quercetin inhibits endotoxin absorption from the gut; drinking orange juice with meals prevents circulating endotoxin spikes. Indigo naturalis is restricted to topical use due to risks of hepatotoxicity, pulmonary hypertension, and GI reactions with oral administration.
