NAT-C was viewed as valuable, relevant and legitimate for primary care cancer care. NAT-C helped clinicians uncover unmet needs that might not otherwise be detected or raised by patients. NAT-C consultations had a median duration of 24 minutes, which was longer than standard primary care appointments. NAT-C was delivered to 96% of eligible intervention-practice participants in the study. NAT-C is a one-page consultation guide for identifying, triaging and reducing unmet needs among people with cancer and their carers. NAT-C supports holistic assessment by separating needs manageable in primary care from those needing external referral.
