NITAG–Academic Institution Linkages

Formal hosting of NITAG secretariats by academic or research institutions exists in some high-income countries but is uncommon in LMICs. NITAG–academic institution collaboration occurs through shared membership between universities, research centres, and advisory groups. Academic research on vaccine efficacy, safety, and disease burden can directly inform NITAG recommendations. Academic institutions support NITAGs through education, workshops, specialised courses, peer review, data analysis, and expert opinion. NITAGs may partner with academic institutions to conduct immunisation studies assessing coverage, programme impact, and public health outcomes.
