The stimulation waveform uses symmetric biphasic rectangular current pulses at 20 Hz, up to 1 mA. No direct preclinical animal studies were performed with the OkuStim 2 System due to technical constraints. The OkuStim 2 System is a class IIa medical device developed by Okuvision for minimally invasive electrical stimulation of the eye. The single-use OkuEl M thread electrode is placed on the ocular surface at the inferior limbus, with counter electrodes on the forehead. Patients cannot change the programmed therapy amplitude themselves. The device is worn like glasses.
