Participants are randomised equally to standard rehabilitation alone or standard rehabilitation plus RESST. The study plans to recruit 200 cardiac rehabilitation patients with poor sleep or psychological stress. The protocol was registered before trial initiation and approved by the Erasmus MC medical ethics committee. The trial is being conducted across three cardiac rehabilitation centres in the Netherlands. OPTICARE-RESST tests whether adding a sleep and stress behavioural programme to standard cardiac rehabilitation improves outcomes for cardiac patients.
