Orthopaedic and Trauma Services in Tanzania

District and regional hospitals are key trauma entry points but often have less capacity than higher-tier hospitals. Orthopaedic and trauma services are available across all levels of care in Tanzania, but capacity differs substantially between hospitals. The study interprets the findings as a mismatch between trauma burden and service capacity. Tanzania’s orthopaedic and trauma system is constrained by workforce, infrastructure, specialist support, and external support dependence.
