Osmotic Diuresis

In osmotic diuresis, glucose in the renal tubules draws water out with it, producing large volumes of dilute urine. In diabetics, multiple additional factors stack on top of osmotic diuresis, driving mineral levels progressively lower. Osmotic diuresis strips the body of key electrolytes including potassium and sodium.
