Hospitalised participants had much higher median OOPE than non-hospitalised participants. Income and productivity losses made up a comparatively small share of total OOP costs. Among participants with any OOPE, median annual expenditure was ₹33,675. The median out-of-pocket expenditure over six months was US$824.35. OOPE increased with higher morbidity count. Paid caregiver costs were the dominant direct non-medical expense. Hospitalisation and allopathic medicines were the largest direct medical cost contributors.
