Outcome Measures

Combining PROMs with clinical and administrative outcomes gives a broader view of trauma recovery trajectories. PROMs are valuable complementary tools because they let patients report their health status at defined times. The article argues that sleep, school, and social functioning should be treated as important outcome domains for children with growing pains. The MoCA was chosen over the Mini-Mental State Examination because it better identifies mild cognitive impairment. PPEET is used as a comparator for convergent validity because an authorised German version exists. An 8-point change in the AOFAS Ankle-Hindfoot Score is considered clinically important. The sample size calculation used pilot VAS data and a 20% dropout allowance, yielding 30 participants per group and 120 total.
