The protocol anticipates that spiritual, cultural, legal, and ethical domains may be underrepresented relative to physical symptoms. The synthesis will use the National Consensus Project framework, which defines eight core domains of quality palliative care. Each PROM and PREM will be independently coded by two reviewers according to the NCP domains it addresses. Multi-domain instruments will be decomposed at item and subscale level to allow granular mapping. The NCP framework was selected because it captures palliative care's multidimensional nature and can map both PROMs and PREMs.
