Healthcare providers with prior palliative care training were more than twice as likely to have sufficient knowledge as those without training. Previous palliative care training was the only factor that remained significantly associated with sufficient knowledge in multivariable analysis. Existing palliative care training may be inadequate because sufficient knowledge remained uncommon even among trained providers. The article recommends comprehensive palliative care training for both physicians and nurses across hospital departments.
