The final PPISurg manuscript will report PPI using the GRIPP2-SF checklist. The PAB was founded in 2021 and includes about 20 members with abdominal surgery and clinical research involvement experience. PPISurg does not require ethical approval because it will not collect primary patient data. PPISurg involves patients throughout the project through the Patient Advisory Board of the Study Centre of the German Society of Surgery. Results will be published in a peer-reviewed scientific journal and disseminated in lay terms through PAB networks. PAB members will assess the patient relevance of included trials' primary endpoints, with at least two members reviewing each trial and discrepancies resolved by consensus.
