The multidisciplinary assessment team comprises the primary surgeon, prosthetist, physiotherapist, and administrative support. Patients are excluded for psychological instability, pregnancy, prior therapeutic radiation to the affected limb, or active chemotherapy or immunosuppressive therapy. Comorbidities such as diabetes and peripheral vascular disease are acceptable provided they are medically optimised throughout the perioperative and rehabilitation phases. Established amputees must have documented dissatisfaction or functional difficulties with conventional socket prostheses to be eligible. International patients can access assessment via Zoom telehealth consultation accompanied by recent radiographs. A key expansion in OGAAP-3 is the removal of categorical exclusions for patients with diabetes mellitus, peripheral vascular disease, or tobacco use.
