Penicillin Allergy Assessment Pathway

PAAP can restore access to first-line penicillin therapy for patients whose allergy labels are removed. Most PAAP-arm participants who tested negative had their penicillin allergy label removed from primary care records. In the ALABAMA trial, formal penicillin allergy testing occurred far more often in the PAAP arm than in usual care. The article presents PAAP implementation as requiring caution because evidence remains uncertain.
