Patients reported physical, psychological, and social benefits after surgery. Caregivers believed screen exposure could help children learn rhymes, school content, stories and language. Some caregivers said screens helped children eat better during meals, while others disagreed. Psychological benefits included self-confidence, emotional regulation, and greater control over eating behavior. Physical improvement was the most immediate and tangible benefit. Social adaptation included greater participation, restored work capacity, and improved family role functioning. For some patients, remission or improvement of obesity-related disease mattered more than the amount of weight lost. YouTube was perceived as helpful for caregivers who felt less confident teaching English or school-requested topics. Digital media was used as a substitute for storytelling when caregivers lacked time.
