Stronger perceived support and better interpersonal relationships tend to accompany higher resilience, consistent with earlier research. Mean perceived social support scores differed by source: 5.2 for family, 5.5 for friends, and 5.7 for a significant other. Low perceived social support was associated with nearly twice the odds of low resilience compared with high support (OR 1.7, 95% CI 1.1–2.6). Poorer quality of relationships with people in general was associated with higher odds of low resilience (OR 1.5, 95% CI 1.3–1.8).
