The Ikigai volunteer system was not open to the public at the time described, but the researchers intended broader future availability. PetitVOLA combines a digital matching system with physical, face-to-face social contribution in care facilities. PetitVOLA participants receive symbolic reward points that cannot be exchanged for cash or goods. The PetitVOLA app matches volunteers to suitable activities based on registered strengths, interests, and facility requests. PetitVOLA is an intervention that uses small volunteer roles matched to older adults' existing physical abilities.
