In COVID-positive or vaccinated patients, 51% showed reactivity to mRNA vaccine nanoparticle components. Apeel contains polyethylene glycol (PEG), a compound also used in antifreeze and as a laxative. Phosphatidylcholine, while relatively tolerated orally, showed antibody elevation in 64% of COVID/vaccinated patients when injected alongside multiple adjuvants and mRNA, versus 13% of controls. What happens when PEG contacts produce surfaces over time — particularly on skin-consumed produce like apples and grapes — is unknown. PEG is present in a food coating applied directly to produce surfaces. PEG is a primary component of mRNA vaccines used to stabilize lipid nanoparticles.
