The five PSAC—Angola, Cabo Verde, Guinea-Bissau, São Tomé and Príncipe, and Mozambique—share cultural identity, linguistic ties, and regulatory similarities, forming a coherent cluster for clinical research analysis. PSAC have never been the subject of a comprehensive scoping review examining their clinical trial landscape. A preliminary search across major databases and registries confirmed no current or ongoing scoping or systematic review on clinical trials in PSAC exists. Three targeted projects—BERC-Luso, CT-Luso, and LusoAfroBioEthics—have begun addressing gaps in ethical review capacity and regulatory infrastructure in PSAC, but their coverage remains limited. PSAC together represent over 73 million people across an area exceeding 2 million square kilometres.
