Postabortion counselling substantially reduced contraceptive non-acceptance. Women with prior abortion history had greater uptake of intrauterine devices and systems. After counselling, 3.65% declined any contraceptive method compared with 13.92% reporting no contraception at conception. Women with prior abortion history showed higher postabortion contraceptive acceptance than women without prior abortion history. Combined oral contraceptives were the most common postabortion method overall, but uptake decreased with multiple previous abortions.
