Prehabilitation aims to prepare patients for TKR, optimise postoperative recovery, increase enablement and self-efficacy, and reduce unnecessary healthcare use. The article treats enhanced recovery, physical prehabilitation, nutritional prehabilitation, and combined approaches as potentially beneficial for revision surgery outcomes. The authors hypothesise that prehabilitation could improve outcomes in elective hip revision. Individually tailored prehabilitation may help address participation limits caused by morbidity and pain. The PROTEKT prehabilitation programme lasts 8 weeks and consists of supervised, individualised exercise therapy and patient education delivered twice weekly in approximately 1-hour group sessions. High-quality randomised studies are still needed specifically in revision hip surgery. Existing evidence for prehabilitation before TKR is limited and inconsistent, partly due to low study quality and insufficient detail about interventions. After the 8-week supervised phase, patients are encouraged to continue exercise therapy until surgery, with unsupervised participants receiving phone or video check-ins every other week. Physiotherapists delivering the prehab…
