Only 2 of the 15 independent prescribers in the study had received any formal training related to sensory impairment. Research documents widespread lack of awareness and confidence among pharmacy staff when interacting with Deaf and hard-of-hearing patients. Prescribers without formal training depended entirely on experiential learning, adapting retrospectively after encountering situations in practice. The training gap is systemic, existing at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels across all professional groups studied.
