The evidence check found that none of the 79 longlisted questions had been fully answered by existing research. The JLA process is designed to counter the historical tendency for research agendas to be shaped mainly by researchers and pharmaceutical companies. The final consensus workshop was held online on 11 October 2023. The British Hip Society began the partnership in June 2021 with the James Lind Alliance. The refresh was conducted from May 2023 to February 2025 and followed the JLA Priority Setting Partnership Guidebook and the REPRISE reporting guideline. Responses from people who identified solely as researchers were excluded from the surveys in line with JLA guidance. The final workshop used an adapted Nominal Group Technique with three independent facilitators to support discussion, ranking and consensus. PSPs are participatory collaborations involving patients, caregivers, and healthcare professionals as coresearchers. The JLA methodology has a limitation in that vague or short survey responses can be difficult to interpret without over-applying interpretation.
