Acute team nurses accounted for the largest share of total time across all provider groups, with a mean effective working time of 742 minutes per treatment course. Variation in resource use was most pronounced for direct treatment and care activities and for acute team transport time, reflecting heterogeneity in patient complexity, local organisation, and geography. Geography influenced recorded times, particularly for transport and communication, limiting direct transferability of time estimates to other settings. Acute team nurses spent a mean of 43 minutes per treatment course communicating with ED physicians, the largest share of their communication time. Only 49% of patients received visits from municipal home nurses, and only 25% received visits from municipal care staff, meaning the majority of patients were managed by the acute team alone. Intravenous medication administration and vital sign assessments were the most frequent services delivered by acute team nurses.
