PRS Education

Most participants preferred practical clinical understanding over deep statistical expertise for every clinician. Existing genetics and genetic counselling training was viewed as insufficient because it tends to focus on diagnostic genomic testing rather than polygenic risk score concepts. Future polygenic risk score education should be patient-centred, clinically practical, and adaptable to different baseline knowledge levels. Providers wanted education on genome-wide association studies, polygenic risk score development, risk model evaluation, and integrated risk estimates. Participants strongly preferred education focused on clinical implications rather than abstract technical details.
