Public Support Conditions

Public concerns about AI can be reduced through education, transparency, and established ethical, legal, and governance frameworks. Trust in the institution conducting research affects public support for opt-out consent. The study implemented participant feedback by broadening opt-out advertising, creating a local opt-in register, and establishing an oversight group. Participant support for AI and opt-out consent depended on transparency, GDPR compliance, medical-research-only use, and accessible opt-out mechanisms. Participants' concerns about commercial use were addressed by confirming that data would be used only for medical research and not shared with commercial organisations.
