Pyloric Drainage Procedures

Evidence for routine surgical pyloric drainage is inconclusive. Pyloroplasty and pyloromyotomy were historically performed during oesophagectomy to permanently widen the pylorus. Surgical pyloric drainage adds risks including longer operative time, bile reflux gastritis, and dumping syndrome.
