Interview sample size is guided by information power and saturation rather than a fixed pre-specified number. The interview guide covers cognitive, affective, behavioural, social, ethical, and medical management impacts. The interviews explore how institutional culture, peer norms, and departmental guidance shape vasopressor decisions. The qualitative component uses semistructured interviews with people with chronic pain to understand perceived primary care experiences. Qualitative analysis will use codebook-driven thematic analysis in NVivo version 14. Recruitment will use community partner materials, research networks, social media, and snowball sampling. The interview guide is adapted by respondent type and pilot-tested with three eligible participants. Interview interest forms are de-linked from survey responses to preserve participant anonymity. Interview questions will explore primary care modes including longitudinal, team-based, walk-in-style, virtual, and in-person care.
