Quantitative Coronary Angiography

Quantitative coronary angiography cannot provide valid information about plaque formation on the arterial wall. Quantitative coronary angiography measures arterial lumen diameter, not atherosclerosis itself. Quantitative coronary angiography measures arterial lumen diameter, not atherosclerotic plaque itself. QCA works by injecting dye into arteries and measuring the diameter of the blood-flow path. QCA is incapable of accurately assessing actual atherosclerotic plaque burden. The Lifestyle Heart Trial used quantitative coronary angiography to assess arterial lumen diameter.
