Referral and follow-up appeared feasible in pharmacy-led delivery, but evidence was limited by poor reporting of completion and outcomes. Sustained behaviour change after alcohol-related pharmacy engagement may require follow-up calls, notifications or other continuing support. Pharmacy-led referral routes included pharmacist-to-GP referral, GP follow-up, rapid diagnostic referral and referral to behavioural or specialist support services.
