Referral and Screening

COVID-19 disrupted appointments, referrals, and waiting times during the feasibility study period. Weight stigma impeded screening and engagement, while non-judgemental staff contact supported openness from patients. Local absence of specialist weight management services limited the feasibility of the original referral pathway. The initial model assumed GPs would refer patients to specialist weight management services before referral to PROGROUP. Screening considered comorbidities, home circumstances at one site, and whether life events made behaviour change unrealistic at that time.
