Respiratory Microbiome

The study calculates pathogen diversity, relative abundance, and estimated concentration for each respiratory sample. Microbiome analysis extracts pathogen genomic DNA from quality-controlled sputum plugs after reducing human DNA. Sequencing reads are filtered and aligned to a microbial database to classify viruses, bacteria, fungi, or parasites. Metagenomic function annotation supports analysis of respiratory microecological changes before and after pathogen infection.
