RESST consists of five in-person group sessions lasting 120 minutes each. RESIT was delivered remotely in community settings in England during the COVID-19 pandemic, from October 2020 to November 2021, when lockdown restrictions were frequently in place. RESIT combined three main components: an interactive online education session, health coaching at four scheduled time points, and technology for self-monitoring and prompting breaks from sitting. The intervention aims to help participants accept internal experiences while committing to actions aligned with personal values. RESST links personal values to concrete behavioural change around sleep, stress management and health. RESST is based mainly on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, ACT for insomnia and elements of cognitive behavioural therapy for insomnia. RESST includes psychoeducation about sleep physiology, sleep-stress-health relationships, sleep hygiene and stress reduction. A future definitive trial should retain online education, health coaching, wearables, and smartphone apps, and should also consider education refreshers, digital literacy support, and targeted strategies for work, fatigue, and social barriers.
