One patient discontinued antirheumatic DMARD medication entirely during the study period. Mental disorder presence in rheumatoid arthritis was associated with higher DAS28-CRP scores. Supervised HIIT produced RA-specific improvements including decreased joint pain, increased joint mobility, reduced fatigue, fewer disease flare-ups, and reduced reliance on pain relievers. Patients with RA consistently managed more strenuous exercise than they had believed possible given their diagnosis, and this exceeded expectation served as a powerful motivator. Exercising alongside other patients with RA reduced the disease-related isolation that some patients—particularly those newly diagnosed—experienced.
