Approximately one in three patients had a documented history of trauma or abuse. Family psychiatric history was present in 90% of the cohort, including family histories of suicide. Approximately 9% of the cohort resided in foster care, far exceeding Minnesota's general population rate. School-related difficulties were present in 59% of the cohort. Nearly three-quarters of the cohort carried a prior psychiatric diagnosis, and over half had received prior psychotherapy. Bullying history was present in over half the cohort, consistent with the established robust association between bullying exposure and STBs. Children receiving special education under the emotional/behavioural disturbance category face elevated risk for outcomes that independently increase later suicide risk.
