A mixed object view means perceiving a partner’s desirable and undesirable traits at the same time. Lightning-bolt attraction can introduce a profound teacher but does not by itself establish compatibility. The Imago framework is used to explain attraction to partners who resemble positive and negative qualities of early caregivers. Resentment indicates needs that are unmet, unexpressed, or impossible for the partner to meet. More intense erotic tension may indicate a closer match to unresolved material.
