Prior blood-based gene expression signatures involving T-cell receptor signalling and CXCL9 have not been independently validated. Preliminary data suggest blood-derived and PBMC-derived molecular signatures may distinguish progressive and non-progressive sarcoidosis. The lack of reliable biomarkers has reduced clinical trial quality by enrolling stable or remitting participants.
