School-Based Outreach

The outreach process included visual acuity screening, autorefraction, subjective refraction, slit-lamp examination, prescription, production, and later distribution. Corrective spectacles were prescribed for all adolescents diagnosed with refractive error. The study examined Jakarta middle-school adolescents after a school-based refractive-error outreach programme. The authors recommend counselling, education, expectation-setting, and follow-up beyond spectacle distribution.
