Mild LUTS may still warrant counselling because symptoms can worsen multiple aspects of well-being. Delayed care for BPH-related LUTS can lead to urinary retention, recurrent infections, bladder stones, renal insufficiency, morbidity, and psychological distress. The findings support symptom-based LUTS screening using simple tools such as the IPSS in routine and geriatric care settings. Men with socioeconomic disadvantage, physical inactivity, diabetes, cardiac disease, and arthritis may need particular screening attention.
