Digital databases, textbooks, and journals were the most frequently used source categories in the meta-analysis. The article notes an inconsistency between database lists in the abstract and search strategy section. The initial database search found 857 records, and 581 remained after duplicate removal. The search strategy was developed with PRESS guidance and an experienced research librarian. Google Scholar was excluded because it was judged unsuitable for systematic, transparent, reproducible query-based searching. Grey literature and citation tracking are included to reduce publication bias and identify additional eligible references. The searches were run on April 17, 2024. Standalone information sources require clinicians to search, select, and interpret information themselves. Reference lists of included papers will be manually searched to identify additional studies. Search expressions will combine concepts for haematological malignancies, infections, and observational research designs.
