The correct side-lying position creates space under the side of the body rather than collapsing toward the floor. The top arm is held reaching toward the ceiling throughout the entire drill. The exercise is performed lying on one side with the forearm and thighs parallel to each other. The drill starts with the person lying on their side. The top leg is placed on an elevated surface such as pillows, folded pads, or a step stool. The bottom knee is bent to about 90 degrees at both the knee and hip.
