Existing programmes were reported as insufficiently contextualised to Australian work settings. ASPIRE-Med is influenced by the UK SPECTROM programme. SPECTROM was developed to reduce psychotropic medicine overuse in people with intellectual disabilities by training support workers in medicine quality use and alternatives for behaviours of concern.
