The study examines whether beta-band activity correlates with stimulation-related bradykinesia or freezing of gait. GPi DBS can cause stimulation-related bradykinesia, slowness, and freezing of gait. Case series report new gait disorders in about 1-10% of dystonia patients treated with GPi DBS. Kinematic studies indicate that GPi stimulation can worsen tapping speed and gait parameters.
