Xingnao Kaiqiao acupuncture is intended to stimulate motor and sensory pathways, improve limb function, and enhance cerebral circulation. Routine rehabilitation provided to all participants includes limb positioning, Xingnao Kaiqiao acupuncture, wet compress, warm moxibustion, cupping, and microwave therapy. Standard secondary prevention therapies in the trial may include antiplatelet therapy, neuronutrition, lipid lowering, plaque stabilisation, and blood pressure or glucose control. Post-stroke presentations may include hypertonicity, flaccidity, or a mixture of both. The article cautions against overgeneralizing stroke strategies because neurologic presentations differ by person.
