The study identified burr-hole drainage using OPCS-4 procedure codes for subdural haematoma evacuation and burr-hole approach. Comorbidity and frailty were common in the cohort. The cohort contained 16,450 patients who underwent at least one burr-hole drainage of chronic subdural haematoma. The study included patients admitted to 24 NHS neurosurgical units in England between April 1, 2013 and March 31, 2020.
