Neonatal guideline adherence in sub-Saharan Africa is often below the World Health Organization recommended standard of 80%. Malaria incidence varies substantially across sub-Saharan Africa, showing uneven effects of interventions. AKI patients in sub-Saharan Africa differ meaningfully from those in high-income countries. Sub-Saharan African AKI patients tend to be younger and have lower rates of diabetes and hypertension than patients in high-income countries. RRI thresholds developed in high-income populations may not directly translate to sub-Saharan African contexts.
